Capillary Ion Analyzer

Capillary Ion Analyzer – analysis of organic acids in small samples (Organic Acids).

Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) allows for the analysis of ions of (in-)organic metabolites. Samples can be dental plaque, tongue coating, saliva, in-vitro biofilms. This enables us to measure possible effects of oral care treatments on the capacity of biofilms to form organic acids at sub-millimolar levels after a sugar pulse. Measurements are performed on a Beckman P/ACE MDQ system, using UV detection.

Example

See this example of an acid profile in aqueous extract of dental buccal plaque (.jpg). Ions that can be analysed: Oxalate, formate, succinate, acetate, lactate, phosphate,  propionate, butyrate, nitrate, nitrite.
