Constant Depth Film Fermentor (CDFF)

A high-throughput biofilm model capable of producing up to 75 identical biofilms
  • Excellent for longitudinal studies
  • Wash-out periods
  • Biofilm thickness is pre-set at: 100 – 200 – 300 – 400 – 500 – 600 µm
  • Various substrates ø 5mm possible; teflon, enamel, dentine, perspex
  • Used for single species, multi-species and microcosm biofilms
  • Using our unique reciprocal mode, inter-experimental controls are possible.
  • During treatment wash-out periods are present

Output parameters:

    • Composition:
      • Colony forming units
      • Microbiome analysis
      • Quantitative PCR

Metabolic activity:

      • Organic acid production
      • Ammonium production
      • Arginine catabolism
      • pH profiling

Effect on hard tissues:

      • Transversal microradiography
      • Fluoride content
