Scientific integrity ACTA

Scientific research must be reliable and trustworthy

ACTA is responsible for protecting scientific integrity in their scientific teaching, research and community service.

As a scientist, you may be faced with issues involving scientific integrity, such as:

"We have a disagreement about author order."

"My colleague copies my texts without referring to me."

"I have caught a colleague sloppy."

"I have been unfairly omitted from a publication."

About the Confidant

The Scientific Integrity Confidential Advisor (VPI) serves as the point of contact for questions about scientific integrity in education, research and community service within ACTA. He assists a reporter/complainant, accused or someone who might become a complainant or accused. In doing so, he acts in the interest of the person who has turned to him. This may also be someone from another faculty or someone from outside the organization.

The VPIs can think along about all kinds of dilemmas, mediate between 2 parties or advise on filing a complaint. The VPIs account for their work in retrospect to the Executive Board in an annual joint report, which reports in general terms on the cases handled and the activities carried out.
