Personal information

Prof. dr. Corine M. Visscher holds a position as professor in the field of Orofacial Physical Therapy at the department of Orofacial Pain and Dysfunction (OPD) of the Academic Centre of Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), the Netherlands. She is an epidemiologist and the former director of the dental school of ACTA.  

Her clinical interests and research focus on the assessment of TMD pain, the role of headaches in TMD patients and interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of orofacial pain. To that end, she collaborates with dentists, physical therapists, physicians and psychologists, both nationally and internationally. 

Corine Visscher has (co-)authored over 150 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, including the paper on the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) and, more recently, the adopted version of the DC/TMD for children. She is a honorary member of the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial and Cervical Therapeutics (PTBCCT), a group that is closely connected to the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP). She currently holds the position of President of the International Network for Orofacial Pain & Related Disorders Methodology (INFORM) network.
