The objective of the writing course is to help participants complete the most important parts of a manuscript, or otherwise selected parts of different manuscripts.
Scientific Writing and Presenting in English
Overview
The course will start with two plenary sessions that provide guidelines for writing a clearly argued text. On Day 2, participants will peer-review each other’s Abstracts, and on Day 3 their Introductions.
In the next phase each participant will receive 2 hours and 30 minutes of one-to-one feedback and guidance on their writing – in other words, personalised analyses of readability, argument-building and grammar. To explain and provide exercises on the commonest points and problems that arise, this work will be supported by extensive references to the course book 'Guidelines for clarity and readability in biomedical writing'.
The course will be completed with further rounds of one-to-one follow-ups, this time totalling 2 hours and 15 minutes. A timetable for these will be drawn up during the course.

Requirements
- During the course you will need to present your Abstract and after that you will need to present your Introduction. You are strongly recommended to write both of them before the course starts, and to adapt them as necessary before the sessions in question.
- All online activities depend on good internet connections. And as we want to get to know each other, please make sure you have good video. We also need to hear you properly – few things are more tiring than poor sound and bad acoustics. So if necessary, please invest in a good headset!
