Social media

Last updated on 24 October 2024
When using social media, pay attention to a few things: How do I come across? How can I be an ambassador? And what else should I keep in mind? On this page, you can read more.

Like many other organizations, ACTA uses social media platforms such as LinkedIn and YouTube. Our ACTA account on LinkedIn is the most actively maintained and has been developed by the M&C department. Some of our researchers also use X (formerly Twitter) under their own names.

Professionalism

ACTA presents itself and the dental profession on social media in a professional manner. People working in healthcare serve as role models for society, for example, through the strict rules regarding hygiene and the protection of privacy.

No personal accounts in the name of ACTA

ACTA is a protected brand and owned by ACTA. Therefore, you're not allowd to create a personal account under the name ACTA.

Are you using social media? Then pay attention to this.

  • How do I come across?

    • Be honest, open, and clear; use understandable language.
    • Remember: everything you show online can be found.
    • Treat others online just as politely as you would offline, and follow netiquette.
    • Avoid engaging in arguments and do not speak on topics you are not well-informed about.
    • Be aware of how you come across: your appearance, behavior, actions, and tone. You are speaking on behalf of ACTA.
    • Make it clear when you are expressing your personal opinion and not ACTA's opinion.
    • Read more about this in the online KNMG guideline for doctors and social media (info available only in Dutch).
  • Ambassador of ACTA

    • You contribute to the visibility and strength of ACTA by liking and sharing our posts.
      • You can easily do this by using the icons next to each news or event post on ACTA.nl.
      • Please note: these posts must be publicly available; you will notice this if you need to log in.
    • There are separate rules for researchers; please refer to Media, press, and journalists for more information.
    • Keep your social media profile up-to-date.
      • Mention your current position and role at ACTA, or indicate that you're a student or alumnus.
    • Do you want to post something about your work or studies at ACTA? Consult with your supervisor or instructor.
  • Also pay attention to this

    • Any form of content featuring the ACTA logo or the ACTA building is considered ACTA brand communication.
    • Never assume that existing online content (text, video, photos, infographics, etc.) can be copied and shared further. If in doubt, contact M&C? (information in Dutch).
    • Do not share screenshots, audio recordings, video recordings, or photos of topics that have not been approved by M&C or coordinated with your instructor or supervisor. Ask yourself whether you would be allowed to share the content with a journalist. If the answer is no, then do not post the content online.
    • When speaking on behalf of ACTA, do not share opinions that do not align with the guidelines or rules that apply within our research, education, and care. Always seek permission from your instructor or supervisor if you are uncertain.
