Contract Research

The research for industrial partners is carried out under the responsibility of ACTA Dental Research BV (ADR). ADR is a professional organisation that makes agreements with clients about the conditions under which the research is carried out.

This concerns matters such as: the size of the project, the lead time, communication and reporting, costs, intellectual property and other legal matters. This results in shorter lines and faster decision-making between client and contractor. All contracts that ADR agrees with partners are performed by qualified ACTA scientists.

What does ACTA offer?

  • we have the ability to test and validate experimental products and protocols in a clinical setting;
  • we deliver a result that is scientifically substantiated and can be used in further development and introduction of new materials and methods;
  • we work on a confidential basis with partners to optimally safeguard the interests of the client and patients.

More about contract research

  • Vision

    Despite the fact that the dental status and oral health of the population has improved greatly in recent decades, a considerable part of the population is still suffering from oral diseases. Caries and periodontal diseases are still common and as a consequence there still exits a need for better preventive measures. Nowadays these are increasingly supported by innovative software and lifestyle advice. There is also an increasing demand for innovative methods and materials for maintenance and repair of the teeth and jaw. These should be able to be applied easily, efficiently and cost-effectively in the dental practice.

  • International leading research

    ACTA's dental research is leading internationally, placing ACTA at nr. 2 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject. Our research is set up multidisciplinary, covering the full spectrum of dentistry and interacting with medicine, biology, chemistry and psychology. These disciplines work together in Amsterdam with researchers from the University of Amsterdam, VU Amsterdam, the Academic Medical Centre and the Vrije Universiteit Medical Centre. In addition, ACTA participates in various international networks with top Dental Schools and universities from around the world.

  • Development and Innovation

    ACTA is always on the lookout for new developments. Priorities for development and innovation are oral infections and oral regenerative medicine. Teams, consisting of professors, (senior) lecturers, specialists, postgraduates and students in training to become dentists, are responsible for research within these parameters. ACTA conducts research in a state-of-the-art research and clinical environment and continually invests in people and new equipment. This will insure that all our research is of the highest quality and easily translatable into daily practice.

  • Partnership

    For many years, ACTA has been a partner of leading companies that innovate dentistry. Such companies are continuously looking for new propositions for their customers that have been scientifically tested and proven. ACTA cooperates with companies from the Netherlands, Europe and beyond. Scientific interest is the main motive for ACTA to do scientific research. Results are often published in a relevant journal.

  • Hygiene, Infection and Prevention (HIP)

    ACTA offers the scientific testing of experimental products and protocols in a clinical environment, as well as general and specific advice on hygiene and infection prevention to dental care practices and companies. You can also approach ACTA for courses and workshops, including Incompany, and on-site advice on setting up and adjusting the dental practice and implementing guidelines and training.
